While there are some amazing farmer’s markets all around Volusia County that we have previously highlighted here in East Coast Current, I want to zoom in on a very specific corner of Port Orange that is turning into a community market hot spot.

Back in April, I shared that part of my birthday plans included joining local author Deborah Gregory on a “Fractal Walk” through the Ormond Beach Memorial Gardens. I did just that and am back to tell you about the experience and her newly released book, “Spiritual Wayfinding: 33 Walking Meditations for Navigating Life with Embodied Wisdom.”

This July marks the United States of America’s 250th birthday since the Declaration of Independence in 1776. As a proud resident of Daytona, this July also marks the 150th birthday of the incorporation of the City of Daytona Beach.

As choices in how Floridians educate their children grow with recent legislation, public school districts are having to also increase their choices of programs, courses, and facilities. I have seen this first-hand in both my full-time job as a virtual school teacher for Brevard County and as my kids attend public schools here in Volusia.

Nestled in the heart of Downtown Daytona’s Beach Street is where you can find Volusia County’s only arthouse cinema: Cinematique!

At the moment of this writing, I am drooling over a crushed Oreo cookie and candy cane-topped donut!

If you didn’t already know, the West Volusia Tourism Advertising Authority has a “Cool Craft Beverage Trail” to help you discover unique drinks and their shops or restaurants throughout the west side of the county. You can find local breweries, coffee shops, and candy stores on their website, CoolCraftTrail.com, and social media sites.
