My name is Bryon White, and I'm running for Volusia County Council, District 3.

I believe local government works best when it is grounded in service, accountability, and long-term stewardship of the land and water that define our community. I was born in Volusia County, and began my career in public service here as an ocean rescue lifeguard at 16 and later served as an EMT and law enforcement officer with Volusia County Public Protection.

For nearly two decades, I’ve worked on the front lines of safety, rescue, and community service. Today, I am a small business owner and farmer, co-founding Yaupon Brothers American Tea, where we’ve built one of Florida’s most innovative regenerative agriculture operations. Across every chapter of my life, my focus has been the same: serve the community, solve real problems, and leave things better than I found them.

Slow the Growth Volusia: A Smarter Vision for the Future

Our campaign, “Slow the Growth Volusia,” is rooted in a simple principle: growth must pay for itself and not siphon off funds from our existing taxes. Volusia County is facing increasing pressure from flooding, infrastructure strain, and overdevelopment. This is hurting our quality of life as well as our bank accounts. We need a smarter, more disciplined approach—one that protects our existing homes, strengthens infrastructure before expansion, and ensures residents are not left paying the costs of unchecked development. This means stronger stormwater standards, greater transparency in land-use decisions, and a renewed commitment to a local voice in planning decisions.

I am running to bring practical experience, public service values, and independent thinking to the Volusia County Council. The election will be held on August 18, and I respectfully ask for your vote. Together, we can build a future that protects what makes Volusia County special while planning responsibly for what comes next.
