When Dutch Oven Bread Co. opened its doors last October, the goal was simple. To bake sourdough bread and buttery, laminated pastries worth waking up early for! Less than a year later, the community has answered back. This month, the bakery was named winner of the Communities' Choice Award for Volusia-Flagler.

From a Shared Passion to a Local Favorite

"We’re so excited!" says co-owner Candice, who owns the bakery with her husband, Fabio. "We started this because we love spending time in the kitchen and being creative together. To have our community nominate and vote for us means everything."

The Team Behind the Community Favorite

Behind every loaf and pastry is a team that makes it all happen. The bakers arrive before sunrise, mixing and baking bread and folding butter into dough for croissants and other laminated pastries that take days, not hours, to get right. At the cafe,

the front of house crew greets regulars (and their dogs!) by name, remembers their usual order, and turns a quick bread run into the best part of someone's morning.

The combination of a talented and committed team in the back and the warm customer service at the front is what Candice credits for the award. "It's not just about the loaf of bread or croissant," she says. "It's about the people who make it and the people who show up for it."

Less than a year in, Dutch Oven Bread Co. has already become a neighborhood staple. With a Community's Choice Award on the shelf, Fabio & Candice would like to extend a huge THANK YOU to their team, customers and everyone who has made it possible for their business to succeed.
